The Kansas City Chapter of the FSHD Society is a local group of people, families, and advocates working together to support those living with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). Whether you join us in person or virtually, our chapter offers a place to connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

Michaela is a Research Project Manager with over ten years of experience in Neurology and holds a Master of Public Health degree with an emphasis in Epidemiology from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She works in the Neuromuscular Research Division alongside Dr. Jeffrey Statland and is the Chapter Director for the Kansas City Chapter. Michaela also leads the FSHD Clinical Trial Research Network (FSHD CTRN), overseeing all studies within the network.
Passionate about multi-center clinical trials, Michaela is committed to patient education, advocacy, and improving care and treatment options. Her leadership in both the Kansas City chapter and FSHD CTRN helps her make a meaningful impact on healthcare and improve the lives of patients.

Patrick McKenney is the administrative assistant for Dr. Statland in the Neuromuscular Research Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he has worked for over three years. He holds a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from DePaul University, supporting research and administrative tasks within the department.
As co-director of the Kansas City Chapter, Patrick is committed to advancing research and supporting the community. His leadership helps improve patient care, advance research initiatives, and contribute to the overall growth of the field, making a meaningful impact on both the community and healthcare outcomes.
