Welcome to the Los Angeles Chapter
The Los Angeles chapter of the FSHD Society is a local group of people, families, and advocates working together to support those living with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). Whether you join us in person or virtually, our chapter offers a place to connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

Sixto is the chapter director for the Los Angeles chapter. Diagnosed with FSHD at 17, he had been experiencing symptoms since the age of 4. Although FSHD has been part of his life for many years, Sixto believes it hasn’t taken away his humanity or his ability to make an impact. He has learned to navigate the challenges of the condition while staying focused on his goals and making a positive difference in his community.
As chapter director, Sixto is dedicated to supporting others who are living with FSHD. He is passionate about sharing his personal experience and the lessons he’s learned to help others feel motivated. Through his work, Sixto hopes to inspire hope and resilience, showing that it is possible to face challenges head-on and build a brighter future.
