MOVE Peds Natural History Study

Quel est l'objectif de l'étude ?
The purpose of MOVE Peds is to validate motor and functional outcomes in FSHD and to refine clinical trial strategies for pediatric-onset FSHD. Information from this study will be used to:

• Design better clinical trials and increase their availability for children

No, MOVE Peds do not test any medicine or treatment for FSHD.

Quelle est la durée de l'étude ?
If possible, each person will take part for up to 2 years.

Quels sont les critères d'inclusion dans l'étude ?

To join MOVE Peds, you must:

• Be between the ages of 5-17 years old
• Have a genetic confirmation showing FSHD (type 1 or 2)
• Be experiencing weakness in your face, shoulder, core, or other limbs
• Be able to walk 10 meters without the support of another person in less than 12 seconds (using a cane, walking stick, or braces is allowed, however walkers are not allowed)

A small number of people (~8 people) will also be enrolled who are no longer able to walk (or who take longer than 12 seconds to walk 10 meters).

What might prevent me from being in this study?
You may not be able to take part if you:

• Are currently sick
• Are receiving chemotherapy treatment or taking anabolic medications
• Have taken any medications called “immunosuppressants” in the last 6 months

If you do not already have a genetic confirmation, a genetic test will be performed to confirm your FSHD.

Quelles sont les activités qui me seront demandées ?
If you join MOVE Peds, you will be asked to fill out questionnaires and perform strength and movement tests. You will also have blood draws, whole-body MRIs, and perform a breathing/lung function test.

Combien de visites sont prévues dans le cadre de l'étude ? Sont-elles en personne ou virtuelles ?
If you join, you will attend a total of 5 study visits in person every 6 months for 24 months. The first visit may be spaced out over two days.

Devrai-je passer la nuit sur place lors des visites ?
Non, il n'y a pas de nuitée.

Recevrai-je également des soins médicaux pendant l'étude ?
Non, vous ne recevrez aucun soin médical dans le cadre de l'étude. Cependant, si vous recevez normalement des soins médicaux sur un site d'étude, votre visite d'étude peut avoir lieu à la date de votre visite clinique habituelle ou à une date proche.

Devrai-je payer les frais médicaux ? Les frais seront-ils facturés à mon assurance ?
No, you will not have to pay for any medical expenses during the study.

Les frais de voyage me seront-ils remboursés ?
Yes, up to $1,500 dollars is available for the first visit to cover travel, lodging and meals, and up to $1,000 for each additional visit.

If I have other children, can I bring them to the study visits?
Yes, other family members (such as siblings) can be present during the visit.

Recevrai-je une rémunération pour ma participation à l'étude ?
Yes, you will receive $50 for each study visit completed.

The study team is seeking 80 volunteers to take part in MOVE Peds.
