Connecter. Soutenir. Informer. Renforcer.

Welcome to the British Columbia Chapter

The British Columbia chapter of the FSHD Society is a local group of people, families, and advocates working together to support those living with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). Whether you join us in person or virtually, our chapter offers a place to connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

  • Cheryl Hooge

    Cheryl Hooge

Cheryl is proud to co-direct the FSHD BC Chapter. Her daughter was diagnosed with a spontaneous case of FSHD at the age of 16, and this experience sparked Cheryl’s dedication to learning as much as possible about the disease. She stays informed by reading literature and connecting with others affected by FSHD to share insights and support.

Cheryl believes the FSHD community is an invaluable resource for patients, families, and caregivers, and her passion for building connections led her to help strengthen the local FSHD community in British Columbia. As treatments are being developed, Cheryl is focused on ensuring access to clinical trial sites, hoping to bring one to the area in the future. She is committed to supporting those affected by FSHD and continuing to grow the community.

Bénévole au sein de l'antenne

While Cheryl is powering the path forward, we’re always looking for passionate individuals to help with planning events, spreading the word, and working on other projects. Your involvement will make a big difference in growing the chapter and supporting those affected by FSHD.
