FSHD Canada Foundation has partnered with the FSHD Society to support and grow the FSHD Communities across Canada with the shared goal to deliver treatments and a cure for FSH Muscular Dystrophy.

The Quebec Chapter of the FSHD Society is a local group of people, families, and advocates working together to support those living with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). Whether you join us in person or virtually, our chapter offers a place to connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

We provide support, share local resources, and keep you informed on the latest research and care. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been living with FSHD for years, we’re here to support you, every step of the way.

Bienvenue au Chapitre du Québec

La Fondation FSHD Canada s’est associée à la FSHD Society pour soutenir et développer la communauté FSHD à travers le Canada, avec l’objectif commun de trouver des traitements efficaces et curatifs contre la dystrophie musculaire facio-scapulo-humérale (FSH).

Le Chapitre du Québec de la 前列腺增生症协会 est un groupe local composé de personnes, de familles et de défenseurs unis pour soutenir ceux qui vivent avec la FSHD. Que vous nous rejoigniez en personne ou virtuellement, notre chapitre vous offre un espace pour connecter avec d’autres personnes qui comprennent ce que vous traversez.

Nous offrons du soutien, partageons des ressources locales, et vous tenons informé des plus récentes avancées scientifiques et pratiques en matière de soins. Que vous veniez d’être diagnostiqué ou que vous viviez avec la FSHD depuis des années, nous sommes là pour vous accompagner à chaque étape de votre parcours.

Bien que Louis-Vincent et Sylvain tracent la voie, nous sommes toujours à la recherche de personnes passionnées pour nous aider à organiser des événements, faire connaître la cause, et travailler sur divers projets. Votre implication aura un impact significatif sur le développement du chapitre et le soutien aux personnes touchées par la FSHD.

Meet the Team

  Louis-Vincent Côté

  Louis-Vincent launched the Quebec Chapter with his father, Sylvain, in the summer of 2025. He was diagnosed with FSHD at the age of 15.  Since then, he has lost several physical abilities including running, using stairs, or standing up without using support.  Despite these challenges, he successfully achieved his goal of becoming a CPA.

  Louis-Vincent currently works as a financial analyst at one of the largest law firms in Quebec. He still has a strong interest in following professional sports, despite no longer being able to practice. He looks forward to making connections via the Quebec Chapter.

   

  Louis-Vincent a lancé le Chapitre du Quebéc avec son père, Sylvain, à l’été 2025. Il a reçu un diagnostic de FSHD à l’âge de 15 ans. Depuis, il a perdu plusieurs capacités physiques, notamment courir, monter les escaliers ou se lever sans appui. Malgré ces défis, il a atteint son objectif de devenir CPA.

  Louis-Vincent travaille actuellement comme analyste financier dans l’un des plus grands cabinets d’avocats du Québec. Il garde un vif intérêt pour les sports professionnels, bien qu’il ne puisse plus les pratiquer lui-même. Il est enthousiaste à l’idée de créer des liens à travers le Chapitre du Québec.

  Sylvain Côté

  Sylvain Côté co-directs the Quebec Chapter with his son, Louis-Vincent, who was diagnosed with FSHD when he was fifteen. Sylvain has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 30 years, and his current role is Senior Medical Science Liaison in a small biotechnology company specializing in hematology-oncology and neuroscience.

  Sylvain lives on the South Shore of Montreal in a beautiful city called Mont-Saint-Hilaire. He also has a daughter, who does not have FSHD, who is studying to become an occupational therapist. CrossFit is one of his passions, and like his son, he is highly interested in sports. Sylvain looks forward to supporting the FSHD community as a co-director for the Quebec Chapter.

   

  Sylvain Côté codirige le Chapitre du Québec avec son fils, Louis-Vincent. Il travaille dans l’industrie pharmaceutique depuis plus de 30 ans, et il occupe actuellement le poste d’agent de liaison médicale sénior dans une petite entreprise de biotechnologie spécialisée en hématologie-oncologie et en neurosciences.

  Sylvain vit sur la Rive-Sud de Montréal, dans une charmante ville appelée Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Il a également une fille, qui n’est pas atteinte de FSHD, et qui étudie pour devenir ergothérapeute. Le CrossFit est l’une de ses passions et, tout comme son fils, il s’intéresse beaucoup au sport. Sylvain est motivé à soutenir la communauté FSHD en tant que codirecteur du Chapitre du Québec.
