Walk & Roll Teams

Home / Walk & Roll Teams
Team Capt Rally Header (1)

Whether you join us in person at one of our live events or plan to Walk & Roll virtually, all roads come together through powerful online tools and an international livestream celebration happening on September 17th, 2022.

Between now and then, we hope you'll team-up to take down FSHD!

4 or more registered members makes you an official team!

When we team up, we are stronger than FSHD. Teams strengthen the FSHD Community by connecting people who are passionate about lighting the way to a cure. Starting or joining a team is easy! So, let's go!

Team Captain Toolkit
Teams make up the majority of all Walk & Roll participants, raise more than 80% of all the total funds, and team members, on average, raise $100 more per person than an individual walker or roller.  We know how vital team captains are to that process, so we've created some resources to help your efforts and ensure more fun along the way!

SAVE THE DATES!

This year, we will be celebrating our Team Captains and Team Members as we lead up to the Walk & Roll! Pencil these dates in your calendar and keep an eye out for more information coming soon from your Regional Chapter Directors!

Team Captain Happy Hour -- Stay tuned for our 2023 date! In 2022, we brought together team captains from across the US and Canada, via Zoom, to celebrate and honor their hard work, help pack their toolkit for success, and have a little fun!

Team Member Registration Week -- *Stay tuned for our 2023 Dates! A great way to build your Team.

Team Fundraising Week -- We are just a few weeks ahead of the International Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD Celebration Day, we will kick our fundraising into overdrive! This week will be filled with incentives for teams and individuals to hit--and exceed--their fundraising goals!

Team Types Expand

Teams participate in the Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD in 2 main ways; as a Friends & Family team or as a Corporate team. 4 or more registered members makes you an official team!

Friends & Family - Friends and family come together to support a loved one with FSHD; or as is all too often the case for FSHD families, to support each other. FSHD affects the entire family. Coming together to step out and take a stand against FSHD can be a powerful positive experience for families.

Corporate - A corporate or business team is made up of employees and their family and friends, often forming a team to rally around a co-worker with FSHD. Corporate teams also boost morale and foster teamwork among your staff. It is a great way to enhance teamwork within your company, while giving back to the community.

Start a Team! Expand

It has never been easier to rally a team and start making an impact.

  1. Register for your local Walk & Roll or the National Virtual Walk & Roll. If you have already registered but want to "upgrade" to a team, you can easily do that by logging in to your participant center and making the change yourself. This video will walk you through it!
  2. Maximize your fundraising center! Team captains who personalize and frequently update their team page fundraise, on average, 5 times more than those who do not. You can use your Fundraising Center to:
    - Update your team goal
    - Update and personalize your team page
    - Send recruitment and team emails
    - Track your progress
    - Manage your team roster
    - Connect your fundraiser to Facebook
  3. Recruit team members. Ask anyone and everyone to join your team! With Walk & Roll teams, the more the merrier. And remember, there is strength in numbers: more team members will bring bigger fundraising results. 4 or more registered members makes you an official team!
  4. Communicate. Whether it's an email, group text or Zoom call, keep your team in the loop and motivated with regular updates. Empower your teams to maximize their impact by discussing with them how you’ll fundraise. Make sure your team members are ready for the Walk & Roll by coming up with a plan for how you’ll celebrate on event day.
