Our first-ever Virtual Walk & Roll was a huge success!
The Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD is the only national event focused solely on funding progress for FSHD. Led entirely by dedicated volunteers, supported by staff, events typically take place all over the nation.
Since it began with just a handful of events in 2018, participating in a Walk & Roll has been a life-changing event. It has united families, friends, neighbors, and local businesses to forge powerful connections and strengthen our families and our community.
We would not let anything 2020 threw at us stop us.
When the pandemic hit, then stayed, we had to make some changes. FSHD doesn't stop, so neither do we. Volunteer leaders from coast to coast came together to coordinate a first-ever national virtual event, celebrated in local chapters across the nation and collectively on September 12, 2020.
- $520,000 has been raised for FSHD!
- 822 participants and 147 teams
- 20 sponsors
- Nearly 3,600 people were a part of the effort; participating, donating, or both. Gifts as little as $5 and as large as $10,000!
- Our Facebook Livestream (now available on YouTube) reached 6,000+ people and had 1,700 engagements.
Tremendous thanks to Max Adler, best known for his roles on Glee or Switched at Birth, who served as our Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD National Ambassador
"I watched my Mom and Grandma struggle with this disease, and I don’t want that to happen to anyone, anywhere, ever again. Searching to find a treatment and cure led me to the FSHD Society, the world’s largest research-focused patient organization for FSHD."
We're gearing up for 2021!
