Feeling Fit with FSHD – How to hack exercises part 2

Event Series Event Series: Feeling Fit with FSHD

Denise Johnsson

This is the second session led by Denise Johnsson, a former dancer who applies her dancer’s awareness of the body and movement to addressing muscle issues arising from her FSHD diagnosis. She will describe a sequence of simple exercises with machines added to a daily regime of supplements. Her focus is on maintaining motivation by exercising the muscle set that responds, as opposed to trying to build on muscle weaknesses or “match the herd.”

Denise has a master of fine arts from the Actor’s Studio at the New School in NYC and trained with the Merce Cunningham Dance Group for many years. Now a resident of Zurich, Switzerland, she manages an energy fund at the Credit Suisse bank.

For people living with FSHD who are interested in exercise and fitness, we meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 12:00 pm (noon) U.S. Eastern Time. Come dressed for exercise and have on hand any safety and assistive devices you need. Not every exercise is appropriate or safe for every individual, so please use your best judgement and consult your health care provider.

Please come prepared with a stable chair or stool (back of chair is optional). You can also choose to bring light weights ranging from 1lb to 5lb.
